Guess who’s back? Back again? This blog is back. Tell a friend. Sorry, I had to do that after it being so long since I wrote a blog (which I’m doing completely voluntarily, not because it’s for a grade). Anyways, welcome! I’m just going to jump right into it. This year, Pokemon is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary; Yeah, feel old yet. The first Pokemon game came out on February 27th, 1996. The Pokemon Company, GameFreak, and Nintendo will be celebrating in multiple ways throughout the entire year.
First, they will release all non-catchable legendary Pokemon through GameStop and through Wifi. They started in February (the month of the 20th anniversary) by releasing Mew. You had to go to GameStop in order to receive Mew. This month they are releasing Celebi via Nintendo Network. Nintendo Network requires Wifi to work. Each month they will release a new Pokemon; to see all the Pokemon for each month check out this website.: http://pokemonforever.com/Thread-Pokemon-Announces-Monthly-Legendary-Event-GIveaways
Pokemon GO will also be release this year. The upcoming augmented reality game for mobile phones will allow you to catch Pokemon depending on your location. This will be the first mobile game made the creators of Pokemon themselves. Hey, if you want your kids to go outside and walk around, what better way then give them a game that allows you to catch virtually creatures.
Now, the biggest, most important, most exciting, most mind-blowing-but-not-in-a-the-way-like-when-you-find-out-who’s-the-murderer-is-but-in-the-holy-crap-this-is-amazing-in-ways-I-can’t-explain news. New, main series, 7th gen Pokemon games have been announced. Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon have been confirmed. We have almost no information on the 7th gen Pokemon, region, or even about the new games themselves. The announcement commercial gave a little glimpse of the games towards the end. Most of the commercial was about the 20th anniversary and all the games in the past. If you're as big as a Pokemon fan as me, that commercial hits you hard on nostalgia. You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmzDL1l3Fag.
If you look closely at the end of the trailer, you can see a designer working on the computer creating 3D Pokemon that looks like Fletchling. On closer examination, we see that the Pokemon has a silver head with an orange body, the exact opposite on Fletchling. Also later on we get a very quick glimpse of this Pokemon and can tell that it has completely different body structure. Also, there are many drawings of vehicles that can be seen. A new design for the PokeCenter and even a design for an ambulance. Here’s a video from a youtuber by the name of Jwittz who did a video on the commercial and talks about what I just said: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0fNPxAnusI.
The last celebration I will talk about is the release of the old games. In 1996, Pokemon Red and Blue; Pokemon Yellow followed shortly after. Now they made it possible to play these games on the 3DS. Just to be clear, THESE ARE NOT REMAKES! They are the exact same game from the old GameBoys that you can know play on the 3DS. I am so excited for the new games, all the legendary pokemon giveaways, and play my childhood on a brand new system. Now, excuse me while I destroy my brain trying to figure out what 7th gen Pokemon Sun and Moon will be about. VIVA LA POKEMON!!
